Day 25 – 1% Change {90-Day Challenge} Peaceful Mind

Life is a series of steps. Things are done gradually. Once in a while there is a giant step, but most of the time we are taking small, seemingly insignificant steps on the stairway of life.
~Ralph Ransom

Day 25 -90

Ugh!!  Have a knee injury so I am not working out.  😦

That is a FrOwN-y FaCe because I really like working out.  It really makes me food good in sooo many ways.

But on the BriGhT SiDe, I have been eating well.  🙂

The meals, at the conference I’m at, have been buffet style, so I have been going for fruits, vegetables, and protein.  Because I am coming off of a couple of rough eating days and want to get right back on track, I am staying away from eating a lot of carbs.  That’s okay, because turns out they are Mr. Right-There foods anyway, so I don’t mind passing on them.   If I did have sweets calling my name, I would plan for them (I may have a donut from Dunkin’ Donuts tomorrow in the airport), but SuRpRiSe, SuRpRiSe!! this girl who loves sweets is not desiring them!  That is a testament to giving myself permission to eat whatever I want as long as it gives peace.  This took me a lot of practice, but I am finally starting to nail it.

This CoNcEpT is HuGe.  I really don’t have out-of-control urges for food anymore because I never feel like I have a mental stock-pile of foods that I am craving, or planning to binge on,

I’ve learned that porking out, for the most part, was due to cause and effect – denying myself of the food I loved resulting in spiraling out of control.

MiRaCuLoUsLy, when I began to give myself the foods I desired (in a controlled manner that gave peace) the effect was satisfaction, closure, and peace.

No more food fantasies!  I love it that my mind is not obsessed with thoughts of foods!

Ahhhh, finally a PeAcEfUL MiNd!

Day 14 – 1% Change {90-Day Challenge} The Two Strongest Warriors

Day 14 - 90

This morning I’m sitting at my table with a CuP oF HoT tEa, gazing out the window.  It is a beautiful morning here and the quietness and peace beckons me to stay for a while.  Just a couple of months ago, one of my mentors, Scott M. Fay, encouraged me to spend some time ReFleCtiNg.

Cup Tea

And that is exactly what I am doing. Reflecting on what I read this morning in Emotional Intelligence 2.0 {the chapter entitled Sleep On It} which began with the following:

“In the timeless classic, War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy wrote that the two strongest warriors are time and patience.”

That spoke to me as this is exactly what my 1% Change {perseverance} is all about – time and patience!  It’s actually ironic, but something in me wishes there was a quick fix to time and patience.  How crazy is that!  The achievement side of me just wants to just RiP iT LiKe a BaNd-AiD and be done with it!

But I am beginning to understand that as uncomfortable and painful as waiting is, this is the very thing that works out the impatience and the quick-fix mindset I have.

Like the shot you hate to get, but are so glad you did when it’s all said and done.

Day 7 – 1% Change {90-Day Challenge} Choose Mr. Right!

Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.
~Donald Trump

Day 7 - 90

Went to a wedding and messed up BiG TiMe!   😦

The main reason I over ate was because ever since I signed a contract with myself {three years ago} that I would never diet again, something in me rebels when I do anything that looks like a diet {like pass on WeDDiNg CaKe}.  The problem is that sometimes I take this to the extreme the other way and will even tell myself, Go ahead and eat it.  You are free to eat whatever you want.  Although this is true, much of what I was eating was not what I really wanted.  It was Mr. Right-Now food versus Mr. RiGhT food.  Ughhhh!!!

Bummer!!  This mess up really broke my string of successes and ultimately my momentum which I so desperately needed.  However, am reminding myself that failure actually turns out to be a good thing if I learn from it.  This is confirmation #171 that I have to eat in the BoUnDaRiEs of my points or I lose all peace.

Time to focus on my 1% Change – Perseverance!

Day 6 - 90

Sooooo working on being CoNsiStEnT!  My focus in this 1% Change {90-Day Challenge} is developing the SkiLL of perseverance.  And one way I am working on developing this skill is to reset after a slip up.  Instead of throwing in the towel I want to get right back on track and keep on keeping on.  Huge challenge for me, Miss All-Or-Nothing Girl I am!  Please help me God!

What about you?  How consistent are you in the area that you’re focusing on for a 1% Change?  Do you need to be more consistent?

Day 5 – 1% Change {90-Day Challenge} Asset or Liability?

You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.
~John C. Maxwell

Day 5 - 90Hi there Peace with Food Friends!

We’ve all probably heard that breakfast is an ImPorTanT part of the day.  Okay, every moment is an important part of the day, but since we are talking about breakfast, what’s your go-to? Are you intentional and proactive about MapPiNg oUt a pLaN for your day, including how you will eat, or does life just happen without much thought or input from you?

Whatever your 1% Change is, consider what your plan is for making that change a ReaLiTy.

The reason I am focusing on breakfast is because it is such a BiG bAnG FoR yOuR bUcK.  That’s because it sets the tone for the rest of your day.

How about you?  What is your approach for breakfast.  Is it helping point you in the right direction?  Is that time of the day an AsSeT or LiAbiLitY?

Speaking of breakfast, here’s a peek at what I eat that keeps me SaTisFieD all morning!

Let’s make this a great 1% Change day!!
