Hi Friends!
Our prayer for you this Christmas Eve and beyond is that you will have ~Peace~ not only in your waking moments, but in your sleeping ones as well!
Blessings and P E A C E!!
You’ve probably heard that Christmas song that goes, “Let there be P-E-A-C-E on earth and let it begin with me.”
As you finish up your last-minute Christmas shopping, why not consider giving the gift of P-E-A-C-E this season?
Is there a relationship that needs reconciliation, a kind word of hope you could give, or some other gesture that would bring peace into someone’s life or your own and make the world a better place?
In the past four months, since we published our book, we have received numerous stories from people telling us how they have experienced greater amounts of peace, not only as it relates to food, but also to L I F E in general!!
But don’t take our word for it! You can read some of their stories in our Amazon reviews and/or purchase HERE.
Have a BleSsEd and PeAceFuL Christmas!!
One Christmas-time tradition I have is to watch FrOstY ThE SnOwMaN with my kids. I love that movie. Probably because it takes me back to my childhood.
Yep.
Immediately I’m transported back to the frigid South Dakota Christmas season, in front of the television with my family, watching holiday specials with popcorn and grape juice.
In the movie, there is a scene where the magician attempts to do a trick for school kids involving eggs. The trick obviously fails and he ends up with raw eggs on the floor to which he responds:
“Messy, messy, messy!”
Messy, messy, messy. How true is that statement when it comes to life. It is also true in Peace with Food. If you truly want peace, you will have to take on the role of a scientist and experiment. Here are a few things you need to know about this process of experimenting in the pursuit of Peace with Food:
So, as you experiment, give yourself grace. With each tiny step forward you are making progress and that’s what life is all about – enjoying the journey on your way to your destination!
I love this pose of our puppy, Buddy. And of my husband Scott. Both are classic.
For Buddy, this pose is the very thing that caused us to choose him over the 20+ other puppies. While all the other puppies jumped on us, in out-of-control-puppy fashion, Buddy, politely sat looking up at us with those innocent, puppy-dog, dark brown eyes. We were suckers. He had us at “HeLLo”!
Buddy clearly set himself out from all the rest and we knew that he was “ThE OnE”.
The funny thing is that I was set on getting a female. We had a girl’s name picked out and had purchased pink and purple studded collar and lease, a pink crate, and other girl dog accessories. But even though Buddy did not meet the qualifications and requirements, he was still chosen all because he was N I C E!!
How that lesson parallels life. Often times the most qualified person, or the person who seems to meet all the requirements get passed over by some unlikely candidate, all because they were the more gracious person. There is a saying that, people want to do business with people they know, like, and trust. I’m sure it could be said that people want to do life with people they know, like and trust, as well.
So, today, I am pondering how I can be a bit more FriEndLy, PleAsaNt, and KiNd. Who can I say “Hello” to that I might otherwise pass by? Who can I give a smile, pat on the back, or other gesture to let them know they are important?
Hmmmmm. . .
Here is another FAVORITE! I get so many compliments on these.
Combine the following into a large bowl:
1 C. Oatmeal
1/2 C. Peanut Butter
1/3 C. Honey
1 C. Coconut Flakes
1/2 C. Ground Flaxseed
1/2 C. Mini Chocolate Chips
1 tsp. Vanilla
Directions: After thoroughly mixed, use a 1″ cookie scoop to form balls on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Get your hands slightly wet and roll each scoop to make completely round balls. Put baking sheet in the freezer until all balls are completely frozen. Remove from sheet and store in gallon-sized ziploc bag in freezer. It’s a great grab-and-go breakfast or snack! Enjoy!
*Instead of lining a baking sheet with parchment paper, I use the underside of the plastic lid that came with my 9×13 baking dish. This makes for quick and easy cleanup, and the balls don’t stick to the surface after freezing.
*You don’t have to freeze your balls when storing–you could store them in the fridge–but I find that I enjoy them more when they are cold and it forces me to eat them slower 😉
*If you don’t like coconut, leave it out. With that said, I have had many people say they aren’t fans of coconut but don’t notice it in these, so they kept it in.
*Remember, if you don’t like some of the above ingredients, omit or swap them out with something else! PWF is all about finding what works for you, so don’t be afraid to tweak the above to your liking 🙂

Okay. I have been thinking about this for awhile and I just have to write about it.
Have you ever thought or said, “I FeeL LiKe I Am NoT a GooD MoM.”?
This statement is front and center right now because recently a couple of my friends have said that very thing to me. These are not people I would ever put into the “bad mom” category. Not for a moment. But due to the MeSsiNeSs Of Life, things haven’t’ been going as planned.
I must admit, I have felt this same thing more times than I can count.
It is in times like this I must remind myself that the enemy of our soul is an accuser. He uses whatever we are doing to leverage it against us.
We leave the dishes in the sink to play with our kids and he accuses us that our house is a disaster and we are lazy. We do the dishes and tell our kids to go play and he tells us we are neglectful of our kids. Never will a day come when he stops accusing because that’s what accusers do – they accuse.
So what is a mom (or dad, wife, friend or any other person for that matter) suppose to do? RuN To YoUr AdVoCaTe (John 14:26 The Amplified Version). The one who has your back and is fighting your case before the only righteous and completely just judge – God Almighty. Romans 8:34 (NIV) says, “Who then is the one who condemns? No OnE. Christ Jesus who died – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
This verse simply flicks off our accuser like an insignificant pest.
So ignore the accuser. God’s got your back.
Many of you have asked for this recipe which I reference many times in our book. Here you go, enjoy!
Combine the following into a large bowl:
2 C. Oatmeal
3/4 C. Chocolate Chips (I either use chocolate or white chocolate)
1 C. Peanut Butter
1 C. Ground Flaxseed
2/3 C. Honey
2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 C. Raisins
1/2 C. Craisins
*This recipe makes a big batch. If you plan to tweak the recipe, cut the recipe in half the first few times, until you find the combination you like best.
*Remember, if you don’t like some of the above ingredients, omit or swap them out with something else! PWF is all about finding what works for you, so don’t be afraid to tweak the above to your liking 🙂
